Production Engine Test
Most End-Of-Line production test systems consist of multiple test
stands or test cells. All of which are running the same test sequence.
This system at the end of a manufacturing process must be flexible enough to run
each of the different engines models produced at a facility. The system
also needs to be designed efficiently so that the greatest number of engines can
be tested on the minimum number of test cells. Typically these systems are
"paperless" and some systems are also free of manual intervention.
After an engine is engaged in the test cell the computer system
runs a predetermined test sequence. The system monitors the data both for
safety conditions and to determine Pass/Fail status of the engine. Once
the test is completed the engine is routed further in the production sequence
and the test data report is sent to a Cell Data Server and
then onto a plant host system.
COMPTEK's experience with Production Engine Test spans 25 years
at more than ten different engine manufacturing plants.
